From the preface: In 1997, the first book of memoirs by I. G. Starinov, “Notes of a Saboteur,” was published. The memoirs of I. G. Starinov, who is in his ninety-ninth year, attracted the attention of the public here in Russia and many observers abroad . During 1997–1998, the editors systematically received phone calls from readers: when will the second book be published? I. G. Starinov, overcoming all difficulties and obstacles, worked hard on his archive and other sources, checking the reliability of events, the correctness of his judgments and conclusions... The book “Delayed Action Mines,” according to the author’s plan, is similar to the first book (“Notes of a Saboteur ") is a single whole and begins where the previous one ends - during the transition of Ilya Grigorievich from the Ukrainian headquarters of the partisan movement to the Polish one. In addition to memoirs, the book includes a historical study, “Missed Opportunities,” where the author, using extensive factual material, shows from his own experience the development of the partisan movement during the Second World War in the Soviet Union and European countries. Bringing to the attention of the reader the second book of reflections of the oldest partisan-saboteur I. G. Starinov, “Delayed Action Mines,” the editorial board believes that the reader will once again return to the first book, carefully read the second and look with new eyes at the past of his fathers and grandfathers who did not return from war home.Hoaxer: Almost everyone knows who Starinov is. In recent years, he has often appeared on television. Starinov is the main saboteur of the Soviet Union, a real colonel. His memoirs are of undoubted historical interest. No one has yet written in more detail about how the 1928 decree on the creation of partisan bases in the western territories of the USSR was carried out (as General Lothar Rendulic wrote about in his “Partisan War”). I have brought together both books of Ilya Grigorievich’s memoirs under one “cover”, since they form a single whole.
