Enn Vetemaa is known not only to Estonian-speaking readers, but also to Russian-speaking readers. The writer became widely famous in 1962 for his novel “Monument,” for which Vetemaa received the All-Union State Prize. Director Valery Fokin staged a play based on the book at the Moscow Sovremennik Theater (1978), in which Konstantin Raikin played the main role. Other novels: “Fatigue” (1967), “Requiem for Harmonica” (1968), “Chinese Eggs” (1972).
