Is it true that in Georgia you can get a driver’s license and register a company in less than half an hour? Why did the liquidation of regulatory bodies and the cancellation of many construction permits not lead to massive destruction of houses or food poisoning? Where have all the thieves in law gone, for whom Georgia was known since Soviet times? How did you manage to get rid of queues, bureaucracy and corruption in institutions? Unfortunately, the majority of Russian residents have little idea of what is happening in this once fraternal republic. This is due not only to the existing relations between our countries, but also to the lack of reliable information about present-day Georgia. Russian economist Larisa Burakova, who has been to this country more than once and met with the authors of the reforms and their opponents, describes the changes that have occurred here recently and fills this information gap.
