The name of Fisher is well known in England not only to historians. And in the brilliant galaxy of great naval commanders and admirals that the Royal Navy gave the world, it is no coincidence that the British assign Fisher the second rank after Nelson 2. His service in the navy, which lasted over six decades, began in 1854 and ended in December 1918. She constituted an entire era in the history of the British Navy - the most turning point and revolutionary - the era of the transition from a sailboat to a submarine. John Fisher, or “Radical Jack” as his contemporaries called him, is known primarily as a great reformer and creator of the famous Dreadnought, the man who laid the foundations for the victories of the British fleet at sea in 1914–1918. Note: Unfortunately in I couldn’t find a source with the texts of the footnotes online (the footnotes are left in case anyone finds them).
