The novel “Northern Flame” is shocking. So, no one has yet written about the Northern War, which took place mainly on the territory of Belarus, and on behalf of the opponents of Peter I. The look at the war through the eyes of Belarusians of that time is truly impressive. The book destroys myths, stereotypes, lies and propaganda, shows the events of the early 18th century not as the eastern and western sovereigns wanted them to be, but as they were for the local nobility and the population as a whole. The image of Charles XII is interesting, the study of whose personality ( which surprises even Russian researchers) is ignored by Russian historians, despite the fact that everyone recognizes his enormous influence on Russia, while being content only with the caricature drawn of this brilliant commander by Alexei Tolstoy... The main characters of the novel are the children of the heroes of the epic “Pan Kmitich”, consisting of three books: “The Fire Horseman”, “The Path of the Wolf”, “The Fight” and supplemented by the novel “Three Lions”.
