British Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery is one of the most significant figures of the Second World War; under his leadership, a number of large-scale operations were carried out, which largely contributed to the final victory over fascism. For forty years after the war, the name of Field Marshal Montgomery was rarely remembered in our country, despite the fact that he was awarded the highest Soviet Order of Victory (besides him, only four foreign military leaders received this order).
