The book describes in detail an important period in the life and work of Vladimir Nabokov. He lived and worked in the USA from 1940 to 1958, taught at American universities, studied entomology and, most importantly, began to write in English. It was here, after the publication of the novel “Lolita,” that Nabokov became a world famous writer. The book contains many documents, letters from the Nabokov family, excerpts from diaries, and also describes life in the United States in the forties and fifties and how it was reflected in the works of Vladimir Nabokov.
