Offering his “small novels” to the readership, the writer Mark Kotlyarsky declares himself a follower of “movism” - a genre invented by Valentin Kataev, breaking the boundaries of familiar concepts and established forms. Moscow philologist Elena Avershina does not agree with this, believing that the author’s prose work is, rather, “outside” - outside the genre, outside poetry, outside prose, in itself. “Associative poetic prose. Or prose poetry. The choice is yours, reader. "Extra-ism". "Genre of intersection". The intersection of genres and... dreams,” writes Avershina. Kotlyarsky’s “Little Novels” is not a story captured in a plot, it is a history of sensations, connected by a thin associative thread, which, as it sometimes seems, is barely traceable, and therefore, we think, This is a book for those who can not only think, but also feel.
