However, even in the best-calibrated plan there is a place for luck, and sometimes it can turn its back on you. Saren was already mentally saying goodbye to his bright, albeit sometimes confusing, life when a random cellmate threw the key to freedom right at his feet. Perhaps, if he had known in advance how this would turn out for him, he would have decided that hanging chained in prison was not such a bad lot. But everything, as we know, is learned by comparison.
