The Germans are rightfully considered the pioneers of sniper business, who unleashed a real “sniper terror” in the fall of 1914, but the British quickly responded to the threat by creating their own sniper school and in the end completely suppressing enemy shooters. The Russian infantry also suffered heavy losses from sniper fire: “I remember well what a heavy atmosphere the German snipers created in the regiments. They literally did not allow half a head to be shown because of the parapet. The high percentage of disabled officers in the very first minutes of the battle also suggested that someone was beating them, as they say, “to choose from” - of course, they were beaten by snipers ... ”However, create your own sniper school, putting the training of shooters“ on stream ”, succeeded only much later, in the Red Army. This book, the first professional study of sniper business, was translated into Russian 90 years ago, but two-thirds of the century lay in special stores under the heading “For official use ”and only now it becomes available to the general reader.
