Megaprojects and risks. Anatomy of ambition
after payment (24/7)
(for all gadgets)
(including for Apple and Android)
The book covers the risks associated with investments in large-scale multi-million dollar projects. Paradoxically, the budgets of all large-scale projects are underestimated at the planning stage, and investments usually do not pay off. As a result, the final financial costs for the construction of such projects exceed the initial budgets several times, and the projects themselves become unprofitable. Why does this happen and who benefits from it? Should multimillion-dollar projects borne by ordinary taxpayers be controlled by the government or managed by private companies? What are the technologies for risk analysis and planning of large-scale projects? The paradoxes of megaprojects are revealed by the example of leading infrastructure projects in Europe, such as the Channel Tunnel connecting France and the UK, transport links between Eastern Denmark and continental Europe, and between Sweden and Denmark.
