The history of Sparta is known to us only fragmentarily. The sources are largely biased and contain a lot of fabrications and speculation. This requires deciphering the history of Sparta using mythology, archaeological data, analysis of the reliability of certain texts and other tricks. Archaic Sparta is buried under layers of other cultures, it is much less studied than Attica. The land of Laconia is fraught with many more discoveries. We can make only a few assumptions that need to be confirmed or refuted by new scientific research. When we peel history layer by layer from fantasies and slander, the real Sparta opens before us - a beautiful creation of the ancients, which we can admire and from which we can learn to love our Fatherland , protect it from external enemies and internal strife.
