“On Friday, September 25, our friend and collaborator Apollo Aleksandrovich Grigorev died. His loss is great and irreplaceable for us. Much has not yet been said to him; much, expressed in passing, did not receive adequate development. In order to understand and correctly evaluate the life and literary activity of Grigoriev, one must understand his basic views, or, rather, and better, beliefs. It seems to me that I will not be mistaken if I say that the basis of his personality was complete, without turning, faith in life and faith in art, as one of the most important expressions of life. Faith in life in all its manifestations; into life tirelessly developing, according to its basic eternal laws; into a life that cannot be squeezed into the frame of any theory, no matter how smart it may be; into the eternally young and loving, constantly deceiving strict but dry calculations of the mind - into what the deceased called the irony of life...” The work is given in the pre-reform alphabet.
