“Music and Musicians of the Third Reich” is the first book in Russian dedicated to the musical life of Nazi Germany. Based on the latest sources, the book recreates the atmosphere of an era in which music became a “breath of air” for people immersed in the endless horror of what was happening. The functioning mechanism of the music industry of the Third Reich is shown in a comprehensive and multifaceted way: from Nazi legislation and ideological guidelines in the field of culture to the existence of music in concentration camps. The author talks about the fates of musicians - both committed to the ideology of the Reich and those opposed to it, both ordinary and great, who became the first in the history of music of the 20th century - Richard Strauss, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Herbert von Karajan.
