The book by the children's writer A. S. Zelenin includes both already well-known works that have gone through several editions (“Mamkin Cornflower,” “About the War,” “Five Petals,” etc.) and previously unpublished works (“A Boy Walked to the war”, “Cemetery for Pashka”, etc.), united by the theme of the Great Patriotic War. The author’s works are based on the memories of eyewitnesses of those war years: testimonies of veterans who went through the crucible of battles, home front workers and representatives of the generation whose childhood was captured by the hard times of war . It is probably this documentary authenticity, multiplied, of course, by the extraordinary literary skill of the author, who knows how to tell about everything openly and frankly, that makes the strongest impression of artistically undistorted truth on young and adult readers. As the author himself says: “This past is the history of a great country - our history, which teaches and educates, helps us to remain conscientious, decent, cultural..." The works included in the collection have an age category of 12+, but the book can be recommended for independent reading for children from 10 years old, and from 6 years old (selectively) - with adults (parents and teachers).
