In the “Writer and Society” section, “IL” publishes a book by the English writer and TV presenter Alain de Botton (1969) “Concern with Status.” This is, in essence, a moral and philosophical treatise on how “we achieve reciprocity from others.” The author does not teach to neglect social status at all, but tells, using a large number of historical examples, how relative and flexible people’s ideas regarding social status are, and unobtrusively advises not to waste your life on the vanity of vanities, but to acquire the desired position in the community according to your taste.
