At the beginning of the 12th century, Abbot Bernard of Clairvaux breathed new life into the words of St. Augustine: “The measure of love is love without measure,” which means: love does not recognize boundaries or gradations, it cannot be too much or not enough. And in vain they try to set boundaries for love, equating its immensity with long-suffering or the ability to forgive. Yes, they are characteristic of love, but this is not enough for it, because love is infinite, eternal and omnipotent, for “God is love” (First Epistle of the Apostle John, 4:8).
