"The Book of the Goat" is a new, corrected and expanded edition of Prince S.P. Urusov's book "The Goat, its breeding, maintenance and agricultural significance." Before the appearance of this book in 1905, the attitude towards goat breeding in our country was more than disdainful, as can be seen, for example, from a few words in the famous “Handbook for Russian Farmers” (1876), as well as from the article “Goat” in the fourth volume of the Complete Encyclopedia of Russian Agriculture (1901). However, the very first edition , then it was a very modest book of only 95 pages, and was greeted by the public with great interest, which somewhat surprised even the author himself.
