Natalia Ipatova’s closest people have serious problems. Her friend Ksenia accidentally finds out that the land she recently acquired already belongs to someone, and where, according to her plans, the Russian Silicon Valley should appear, something has already been built. Natalya, a professional art critic, unmistakably recognizes the dilapidated building as a recreated monument of European architecture - the ruins of Heidelberg Castle. Natalya's lover, UEB Major Vladimir Vorontsov, learns that his friend, the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of one of the towns near Moscow, committed suicide. And before his death, he confessed to the murder of the local vice-mayor, who oversaw the twice-sold land where a mysterious reconstruction of a medieval castle appeared. Is this a coincidence or links in a chain of events going back to the 90s of the last century and even further - to the era of the Early Renaissance, the time of the papal schism and the feuds of the German princes? Natalya has no choice but to start her own investigation.
