Напруга та інтрига зростають, коли зникають директор табору та його дружина, і читач відчуває, як настрій героїв змінюється від безтурботності до серйозності. Булганова вміло поєднує елементи фентезі з психологічними аспектами, показуючи, як молоді герої навчаються долати свої страхи та розкривати свої здібності.
