In his new book, American historian prof. G. Ferr, known for his books on the Stalinist period of Soviet history, examines documentary materials related to the judicial investigation into the circumstances of the murder of S. M. Kirov and the subsequent trials of members of the Trotskyist-Zinovievist opposition. The book is structured in the form of an analysis of the latest publications on the topic mentioned in the title, using both already known materials and the archives of D. A. Volkogonov (now in the Library of the US Congress) and L. D. Trotsky (in the Haton Library of Harvard University). Furr conducts an evidence-based and objective investigation and debunks the mistakes and falsifications of “historians” who initially stood on the platform of anti-Sovietism and anti-communism.
