The works of Akmurad Shirov, the “Turkmen Kafka,” as many critics have nicknamed him, have incredible emotional power. Lively images, psychologically rich observations, elegant metaphors, rich, exotic language, and most importantly, completely unexpected philosophical conclusions. Under the pen of the master, even the most ordinary plot takes on the features of a mythological story. The world in Shirov's works is completely unique. In it, logic gives way to emotions, dreams invade life, and myths seem more real than reality itself. It is not without reason that Shirov is spoken of as the first magical realist in the literature of Central Asia.
