Reinhold Messner is an Italian traveler, mountaineer and writer from South Tyrol. In the fall of 1986, he set a record that was impossible to believe at that time - he was the first to climb all 14 eight-thousanders in the world without artificial oxygen, and 2 of them by oneself. He has more than 3,000 ascents, 100 first ascents and 70 published books. In this book, Messner talks about mountaineering, based on materials and documents from more than the last 100 years. The book is supplemented with unique and previously unpublished letters from the Himalayas of such legendary climbers as Albert Mummery, Wilhelm Welzenbach and many others. These letters are about happy and difficult moments, about victories and failures; later, many letters will become farewell letters. Thanks to them, you can feel the whole spectrum of emotions - irresistible fear and doom, courage and courage, hope and complete disappointment, but at the same time incredible love and craving for the mountains. The book is supplemented with letters and materials from legendary climbers. Edited by Sergei Boyko. In PDF format A4 retains the publishing design.
