So begins the story of two officers - graduates of the Ryazan Airborne School. One of them, Alexey Artemenko, soon becomes a student at the Soviet Army Academy, one of the most secret intelligence schools in the world. Having become a GRU officer, he does not even suspect that he will soon have to carry out subversive work against his homeland. His friend, Igor Didus, begins service in the famous 345th Airborne Regiment in the USSR, which has just returned from the Afghan War. The Georgian-Abkhaz war of 1992–1993, Shamil Basayev, the Chechen wars - all this is firmly embedded in his life. Each of them comes to an understanding of their place in life in their own way.
