Meilakh Bakalchuk-Felin (1904–1961) was a direct witness of the Holocaust and a participant in the Jewish Resistance during the Second World War, one of the founders of the first Jewish partisan detachment. The events described by the author took place in 1942–1944 on the territory of Ukraine and the southern part of Belarus. The dramatic life of the Jewish partisans and the very fact of the widespread participation of Jews in the partisan movement are almost unknown to our readers.
