“The Telescope of Wisdom,” written in 1987 by the Tibetan Buddhist scholar and yogi Karma Trinley Rinpoche, is a line-by-line commentary on the “Letter to a Friend” by the famous philosopher Nagarjuna (2nd century), creator of the Middle Way (Skt. Madhyamaka). Karma Trinley provides brief explanations of each of the 123 verses of this important classic. Letter to a Friend was written by Nagarjuna as an instruction to one of the Indian kings and contains practical advice on how a lay person should practice the Buddhist Great Vehicle (Skt. Mahayana) - the path of love and wisdom, the accumulation of good deeds and higher knowledge. About the author: Karma Trinley Rinpoche is considered a reborn master of the Kagyu and Sakya traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. His teachers include His Holiness the Sixteenth Karmapa, His Holiness Sakya Tridzin, Lama Chobje Trichen Rinpoche. Due to his wide learning and scholarship, as well as extraordinary spiritual achievements, Karma Trinley Rinpoche is one of the outstanding Buddhist masters of the modern world.
