In August 1787, the Ottoman Porte launched a new war, with the goal of regaining Crimea and all previously lost territories. The theater of military operations became the Black Sea and the surrounding lands. The decisive naval battle took place in July 1790 in the Kerch Strait near Cape Takil. It is this that the young graduate of the Naval Cadet Corps, midshipman Alexey Sergeev-Ronsky, will become a participant.
