In his new book, one of the leaders of the Left Front, historian A. Sakhnin, talks about the stunning success of the Bolsheviks in 1917, when they turned from a little-known and uninfluential party into a leading revolutionary force and won victory in October. He proves that, contrary to popular belief today, the Bolsheviks were not conspirators who seized power as a result of a putsch. The materials cited by A. Sakhnin indicate that the Bolsheviks found wide support among the people: strange as it may seem to some, they were then the most democratic party. That is why, the author writes, “what in the language of that era was called “revolutionary creativity of the masses” gave unprecedented energy, which made it possible to make incredible changes and change the course of world history.”
