Clifford Wilder's grandmother is terminally ill. She constantly laments that she will never get to see the wife of her only grandson. To please her, Clifford decides to stage his engagement, inviting as his bride an employee of the bank he runs, the modest, sweet Alex Rich. Everything is going great. The performance is a success.
