Journalist Gleb Korsak did not refuse his old friend Pyotr Favorsky’s request to take for storage the painting “Self-Portrait with Death” by the seventeenth-century Flemish master Van Thielboch. Gleb didn’t even unpack the masterpiece until he found out that Favorsky died that same evening under very strange circumstances! Something literally scared him to death... Gleb immediately understood that it was the Flemish’s painting. He learned that a hundred years ago it belonged to the perfumer Heinrich Brocard, the creator of the first factory in Russia for the production of soap and perfume. It turns out that, at his request, some details were redrawn in “Self-Portrait”. This means that the famous Frenchman encrypted some secret in the picture...
