The book of the American philosopher Tom Rockmore (b. 1942) is published in Russian translation: Rockmore T. Marx After Marxism. The Philosophy of Karl Marx. Oxford; Maiden, MA: Blackwell Publishers, 2002. xx, 224 p.
T. Rockmore's book is fundamentally polemical in nature. The author of the book offers a new look at the philosophical and political-economic theories of K. Marx, which, in his opinion, became possible after the decline of political (“official”) Marxism. T. Rockmore is based on the writings of Marx and separates his concepts from their representation in Marxism, which distorted them. He sees in Marx, first of all, a philosopher, and one belonging to the tradition of German idealism. Marx appears in the book as the greatest philosopher of history, who created the historical concept of society in general and economic relations in particular.
