In the autobiographical novels Papillon (1969) and All-In (1972), which became bestsellers in the West, Henri Charrière reveals to the reader the world of his soul, which has gone through unimaginable suffering and humiliation. The author of the presented duology was convicted on false charges of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. Many years were spent in hard labor and wandering in an effort to get home to France. Despite everything, Charrière persevered and endured the terrible trials of fate with dignity.
