The article analyzes the phenomenon of the popularity of the film “The Irony of Fate”, which very fully represents the fantasies typical of the Soviet-Russian mass audience. The core of these attractive fantasies, according to the author, is maternal-child symbiosis, which devalues mental development, social self-realization and other attributes of maturity. The released sequel to the named film helps to reveal the internal logic of the unsuccessful destinies of the film’s heroes and to trace the transmission of bad life through the “inheritance” scenarios.
