V. A. Koleneko’s monograph Catholic syndicalism in Canada: theory and practice (1920–1960) summarizes the results of the author’s many years of research on the history of Canadian Catholic syndicalism and social Christianity. On the pages of this book the main stages of the creation, development and evolution of the Confederation of Catholic Trade Unions of Canada are traced and its example shows to what extent the moral principles developed by the Roman Catholic Church as the ideological basis of such social movements in theory were combined with their practical application in real society. -the political situation of the 20s - 50s of the XX century. This dual task is reflected in both the name and the structure. The choice of this chronological framework is due to the fact that the organizational formation, growth of influence and evolution of Christian trade unions not only in Canada, but also in many countries of Western Europe, fall precisely on this forty-year period. The appendix provides a detailed bibliography of the main sources and specialized literature on the entire range of this issue and a list of abbreviations for Canadian trade union centers adopted in Canada.
