The textbook is a course in modern aesthetics, covering its basic concepts and ideas. Particular attention is paid to the originality of the aesthetic vision of the world, key aesthetic categories, goals and values of artistic creativity, the language of art, the basic principles of art and its evolution.

The idea of internal unity of traditional and modern aesthetics is presented. Contemporary art, including modernism and postmodernism, is considered as a natural continuation of the previous history of art.
