The author of this book is the Fourteenth Shamarpa Mipham Chokyi Lodre. The Shamarpas, or “Red Crowned Tibetan Lamas,” are the second oldest lineage of Tibetan reincarnations after the Karmapa lineage. This book describes the life of the Tenth Karmapa Chyoying Dorje. Photographs of thangkas, statues and temples created and built by the Karmapa over the years of his activity are used here. The Tenth Karmapa's own notes and the memoirs of his contemporaries, in particular the Fifth Dalai Lama, are also provided. The book describes and explains some of the features of that historical period.
