This book is the memoirs of Dmitry Shepilov, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Pravda, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, and later minister of foreign affairs of the USSR. The author not only sets out the events that took place in the 30s–50s, but reveals the emotional, human side of these events. His memoirs are interesting for their courage and independence of judgment about current issues of social and political life at that time, and for their frank and impartial characteristics of key political figures of the USSR.
