... This is a fictional work, it is not historical. Therefore, both coincidences with reality and discrepancies with it are possible. It seems that the novel can be called an artistic attempt to briefly touch on some aspects of American reality in the second half of the 20th and early 21st centuries. The domestic situation and foreign policy, the attitude of Americans, the position of the United States in the world, hippies, repressive psychiatry, cinema, the religiosity of Americans, their universities, secret clubs, waiting for aliens from other worlds, self-image as the elite of the world - here is a short list of topics in touched on in the book to one degree or another. For a detailed consideration of all these problems, a multi-volume monograph would be needed, but this is just a small novel that provides one of the many existing options for understanding them.
