We offer the reader a Russian translation of the biography of the outstanding thinker and public figure of India, a student of Ramakrishna - Swami Vivekananda (Narendranath Datta) (1863–1902). Vivekananda created the “Ramakrishna Mission” in 1898, laying the foundation for a whole movement in cultural, religious and social spheres of life in India. In 1893, he participated in the World Congress of Religions in the United States of America, at which he proclaimed the message of the East about the unity of all forms of religions, based on the timeless ideas of Advaita Vedanta.
