Elie Berthe (1818-1891) - French writer, born in Limoges, settled in Paris in 1834. Author of numerous adventure, adventure and historical novels, many of which have been translated into Russian. The most famous are: “The Beast of Gevaudan”, “The Desert Bird”, “The Catacombs of Paris”, “The Trembling Rock”, “The Lost Valley”, “The Gang of Orgers”, etc. And Berthe’s novel “Child of the Woods” is half a century ahead of the plot of the famous story about Tarzan .This volume publishes the chivalric romance "The Castle of Montbrun", the events of which unfold against the historical background of Aquitaine in the 14th century, shaken by terrible disasters, gross superstitions and unbridled passions.
