The novel “Born on the Rue Mauprat” covers half a century of Russian history - from Khrushchev’s “thaw” to the present time. It depicts without gloss party bosses, wild liberals, military men, businessmen, holy fools and other bright folk types of provincial Russia. The main characters of the book, residents of the northern city of Vyatsk from a street with the strange name Mopra, go through a joyful and cruel youth, the test of the turning point years in the nineties, the knowledge of a new capitalist “paradise”. Happy and deafeningly unhappy love, despair and inspiration await them. The novel is part of the “Truth and Bliss” trilogy and is published in the author’s version.
