Dmitry Narkisovich Mamin-Sibiryak (1852–1912) - Russian prose writer and playwright, author of novels, short stories and fairy tales for children. The book includes fairy tales and stories written in different years of the writer’s life. From childhood, the writer passionately fell in love with his native Ural nature and in his works described its beauty and grandeur. Nature in his works comes to life and becomes a direct participant in the narrative: “Gray Neck”, “Forest Tale”, “Old Sparrow”. The writer dedicated the cycle “Alyonushka’s Tales” to his daughter Elena. In these fairy tales, animals, birds, fish, plants, toys live and talk: Brave Hare, Mosquito Komarovich, Ruff Ershovich, Fly, toy Vanka. Talking about the funny adventures of animals and toys, the author teaches children to observe nature and life. The writer had a special relationship with children. For them, he called the book a “living thread” that takes the child out of the children’s room and connects him with the wide world of life.
