Charles Kingsley (1819–1875) - Anglican priest, writer, historian; one of the founders of English Christian socialism. His creative legacy consists of novels, philosophical works, sermons, journalism, lectures, etc. The pastor’s fame as a Christian socialist and writer was created by two social novels - “Yeast” and “Elton Locke, Tailor and Poet”, where he managed to depict the crisis phenomena in a traditionally conservative rural society and show the misfortunes of the inhabitants of urban slums. This volume publishes the novel “Adventurer Amyas Lay”, in which fate has prepared many trials for his hero: here is a meeting with the beautiful Rosie Saltern, and a brutal battle with the Spaniards for gold... All this happened after the desperate daredevil Amyas Lay set sail on the ship of the famous pirate Francis Drake.
