August Weissel - Austrian writer and journalist; at the beginning of the 20th century he worked as a crime reporter, where he drew stories for his works on crime topics. He is practically unknown to the Russian reader, since only one of his books was translated into Russian, and even that was published almost a hundred years ago - in 1913. The novel "The Green Car", presented in this volume, begins with a strange incident: from the desk A high-ranking and influential general has his secret documents stolen. Dr. Leo Specht, former commissioner of the Viennese secret police, racks his brains day and night to solve this case. The mysterious stranger who invited the commissioner to the ball tries to tell him important information, but during their conversation, Specht's interlocutor is notified of the murder that has occurred, and she hastily leaves the holiday in a mysterious green car. Intrigued by this circumstance, the commissioner begins an investigation.
