A striking example of the prose of the classic of Romanian literature I.L. Caragiala is the story “Two Lottery Tickets”, in which the writer brings a possible situation to the point of absurdity in order to ridicule human greed, the thirst for easy money, indiscriminateness in the means of achieving the goal... The story contains all the attributes of high-quality prose: a precise plot, subtle psychology, the interweaving of the tragic with comical and unexpected outcome, as well as a moral lesson obvious to the reader, but not imposed by the author, referring to the Bible (may everyone be rewarded according to their deeds). At the same time, this story can be considered in the context of the tragedy of a little man, a petty employee who dreams of changing his gray monotonous life with the help of a miracle, with the help of one chance in a million... In the homeland of the writer based on the work “Two Lottery Tickets”, in 1957 a feature film was made.
