This book is a unique event in Russian military historical literature. For the first time in Russian historiography, a study has been prepared that contains a comprehensive, comprehensive and exhaustive analysis of the military art and military history of Sasanian Iran, a state that played a key role in the history of Eurasia in general and in the relationship between Western and Eastern civilizations in particular. Based on a wide range of sources and scientific literature, the author examines in detail the military affairs of the Persians of the Sasanian era in all its aspects: from the point of view of composition, organization, weapons, technical equipment of the Persian army, strategy and tactics of its actions. The author pays special attention to the history of the military-political confrontation between the Sasanian power and the Roman-Byzantine Empire, which for more than five centuries (from the first half of the 3rd to the mid-7th centuries) determined the geopolitical situation in the Near and Middle East. In a fascinating, exciting form, the book tells about all the vicissitudes of the struggle of the two largest powers of late antiquity for hegemony in Western Asia. This publication will undoubtedly be appreciated by both specialists and everyone interested in the history of military art. CONTENTS: Introduction 5 PART 1.
