The everyday gatherings of visitors to the “Shelter of Innocent Vagrants” cafe are interrupted by a terrorist invasion. The random hostages turn out to be a flirtatious actress, a private detective, a famous poetess, a “very left-wing” student, a college professor, and a Russian diplomat. On the wall, under a drawing of three unkempt individuals, is inscribed the Latin saying “There are no more courageous and honest people in the world than the naive.” Will the hostages be honest and brave? And are they so naive? And did they end up in a cafe by chance? And are their political passions sincere? Is everything in this world as politicians say it is?
