The book “God’s World” by the Siberian writer Alexander Donskikh includes stories and short stories reflecting the crossroads of the 20th century - a chaotic, furious, sometimes terrible century, about which it seems that so much and often colorfully, highly artistically has already been said, but, it turns out, more and I still want and need to talk. Because that century was traversed by the iron of wars, hatred, all kinds of reforms and restructurings through the fates of millions of people, and the fate of each of them is a separate and unique story, similar and not similar to millions of others. The author not only looks into the most complex collisions of Soviet and Russian reality, as if into a deep well or abyss, but tries to understand where Russia is moving and what awaits it ahead. In the story “God’s World” - the fate of a simple Russian woman, her parents, and children over half a century and husband. The elderly heroine-storyteller tells her young listener about the life lesson she has learned: “No matter how much we are tortured and executed, good people still do not disappear on Russian soil. Believe, Katenka, in people, no matter how hard it may be for you...” The story “The Sun Will Always Rise” is about childhood, about growing up, about family. The story “Above Eternal Peace” is about the formation of personality. A colorful series of events and incidents into which the hero, willingly or unwillingly, is drawn. He, a teenager, a young man, wants to be an adult, independent, wants to live by his own rules. But life is often treacherous and merciless.
