This book is an attempt to peer into the diversity of Tibetan materials on death, presenting a number of writings that show typically Tibetan approaches and practices. The author analyzes nine texts illustrating the following seven main categories of literature on death and dying: an instructive guide for practitioners of death meditation while living; essays that inspire practice; stories about the death of great yogis; occult materials on methods of predicting signs of untimely death; yogic methods of achieving longevity; methods of training the mind to transfer consciousness to the moment of death; ritual texts read to help the deceased.
