In the book of the famous French philosopher Bruno Latour (b. 1947), an original project of “experimental metaphysics” is developed. Its main goal is to develop a new concept of political ecology that would combine scientific practices with the democratic decision-making process, which requires a simultaneous revision of the three fundamental concepts of logos, physis and polis that are fundamental to Western philosophy. Drawing on developments in the field of sociology of sciences, comparative anthropology, political philosophy, as well as a fundamentally new understanding of the practice of environmental movements, Latour proposes a program for building a “common world” in which non-human actors participate on equal terms with humans.
